WARREN HILLS BOYS COME BACK STRONG FROM EARLY
STRUGGLES AT THE SNOWBALL CLASSIC
The Snowball Classic at Laurel Lanes is a long, long day. It starts before dawn, as the bowlers have to get up & get ready and get on a bus at 6:00 a.m., and lasts through a two hour bus ride and four long games of competition. It can seem even longer when you're struggling to find the shot. More than a few teams in the massive field more or less packed it in after a tough game or two.
The Blue Streaks boys were not one of those teams.
Despite the trouble every bowler aside from Junior Eric Lawson (who was very good all day, finishing at 859 for four games) had finding the shot, the Warren Hills boys fought back and improved every game, finishing with an excellent 1032 the final game, powered by Eric's 223 as well as Seniors Jake Irwin (210) and Darryl Price (224). Each member of the team rolled at least one 200 game (again): Jake (200) and Darryl (205) connected in game 2, while Junior Avante Wilson (201) and Freshman Ryan Monahan (203) made it happen in game 3. All told, the Streaks finished with a total of 3821, good for 12th place.
While the results may not be what the boys wanted, or expected after an excellent showing on Saturday, they should certainly be proud of how they handled this tough spot, and we can expect them to handle it again should it happen at sectionals or states.
By the way, the Streaks are now the #16 team in New Jersey. That's another thing to be proud of.
