Seven 600 SERIES HIGHLIGHT STREAKS' HUGE DAY
That was a great way to start 2017.
Both the Warren Hills Boys and Girls teams put up very impressive numbers in 7-0 wins over Watchung Hills at Oakwood on Thursday. Seven Streaks put up 600 series, and a bucketful of season- and career-high scores were posted. The standout among standouts was Skyland Conference average leader Junior Eric Lawson's stellar 247-226-279=752, which concluded with the last 11 strikes in a row. Big contributions came from the entire lineup: Senior Jake Irwin had his season high game (245) and series (612). Senior Darryl Price held onto second-place in the conference with a 239 single and a 639 set. Freshman Ryan Monahan posted his second 600 of the season and topped his season-best game with a 225. Senior Jack Zhang crushed his average with a 203 single and a 509 set. Junior Avante Wilson had a big 223 in game 1, helping the Streaks to their season-best single game of 1143. The boys' series total, 3210, was also a season high, and a score only 8 other teams in New Jersey have reached this year. Just an awesome performance.
The Streaks Girls team posted an impressive 2874 series, a total only exceeded in 2016-17 by two other schools (and Warren Hills themselves last month). A trio of 600s led the way: Senior Skyland Conference average leader Jenna Henderson (622), Junior Katie Winch (season-high 631 & 242 single), and Freshman Kelcie Mannon (season-high 627, team season-high 247 single). Senior Jessica Yerance continued to be the most consistent bowler on the team with an excellent 218 single & 564 series. Senior Kala Hopkins (154) and Junior Jacquelyn Nesbeth (159, a season-high) contributed solid games. With tournaments coming up soon and sectionals in just four weeks, the Streaks are beginning to build toward their peak.
Next action is on Tuesday, as Warren Hills hosts South Hunterdon at Oakwood Lanes.
