streaks boys & girls head to winter break in first place
The first half of the Skyland Conference bowling season ended with Warren Hills's third and final trip to Stelton Lanes, this time to face Bridgewater-Raritan. Most of the Streaks struggled to find the shot consistently, but there a few nice highlights.
Junior Eric Lawson capped off a superb first half with another 600, this time finishing at 618. Eric's Conference average sits at a stellar 210. Seniors Darryl Price (223) and Jessica Yerance (219), as well as Junior Katie Winch (222) put up great single games. But the best highlight may have been seeing Freshmen Antonio Furlano, Amanda Burnett and Sofie-Lynn Schaffer make their varsity debuts. All the kids on this team have showed up at practice and worked hard on their skills all season, so it was great to see a few them get some valuable varsity time. They're the future of the program.
Bridgewater-Raritan is in a bit of a rebuilding stage after graduating several top bowlers in 2016, and the girls team is essentially brand new (last year's varisty team was co-ed and competed against boys' teams), so the outcomes weren't especially close. All the Streaks bowlers now get some time off, and will be back in action Thursday, January 5, at Oakwood against Watchung Hills. Congratuations to all the Streaks for a successful first half!
