STREAKS boys fight to take third; kelcie & jenna
take individual honors at h/w/s
Nobody likes to make (or hear) excuses, but let's be honest: the Streaks bowlers were not feeling their best as they walked into Sparta Lanes for the 2017 Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament. You couldn't walk two steps without finding a Warren Hills bowler that either didn't feel well or was just getting over it. The results are what they are, but awarding some "A"s for effort for this group isn't out of line.
For the most part, the boys never really got it going, but they still managed to beat 8 teams and finish 3rd behind Sussex Tech (#13 in NJ) and a very good Wallkill Valley team. Juniors Eric Lawson and Avante Wilson came through with 200s in game 3, and Senior Darryl Price carded a solid 237 single & 623 series. All told, 2742 isn't bad, but it certainly doesn't indicate what this group can do. Get well soon.
There is no girls team event at H/W/S, but the Streaks bowled as a team anyway, and fired a scorching 2887 which would have tied Wallkill for 2nd place if that kind of thing was allowed. Technically entered as individuals (and competing against the girls that compete on the Sussex County co-ed teams), each of the Warren Hills girls found some success. Seniors Jessica Yerance (186, 196) and Elizabeth Hudock (202, 205) each had 2 good games before running out of steam (the sickness was decidedly co-ed as well). Junior Katie Winch fought all day and was rewarded with a final game 212. Senior Jenna Henderson posted a consistent 194-215-211=620 to take 3rd place in the girls individual standings. And Freshman Kelcie Mannon shot a season-high 267 single and 650 series to take the H/W/S Girls Individual Title. Nice job.
Lots of rest, lots of fluids, and we'll see everyone again on Friday at Oakwood for the Skyland Conference Tournament.
