seniors find success at singles tournament
Nine bowlers from the Warren Hills bowling team entered the North Jersey Singles Tournament at Parkway Lanes, and several found success - led by our seniors.
Both Jenna Henderson (556, ranked #8) and Jake Irwin (554) made the first cut after three games, and each broke 200 in the rolloff round to make the quarterfinals. The tournament is structured to make the quarterfinal round a real pressure cooker - only the top 3 girls and the top 5 boys make the cut to the semifinals - and unfortunately the Streaks came up just short. But in a tournament that attracted over 170 entries, getting that far was impressive.
Even making the first cut was impressive; only the top 24 girls and top 40 boys after 3 games were able to advance. And those advancers included Warren Hills senior Darryl Price, who was in the top 10 after 3 games (624, including a 231 single), junior Avante Wilson (577), who was ranked 18th, and junior Katie Winch (545), who came back from a tough 2nd game to shoot a big 214 in game 3 to qualify easily.
Warren Hills' final Senior, Elizabeth Hudock, faced as much pressure as anyone when she tied for the final qualifying spot and had to face a one-ball rolloff. And then she had to face it AGAIN when the first resulted in a tie. But she came through with the win in the second rolloff and advanced.
Congratulations to all the Streaks bowlers. They'll be back at practice for 3 days before Thursday's home match at Oakwood against Hunterdon Central.
